For thousands of years, the name of Ithaca has been more than just a geographical location on the map of the Ionian Sea; it has been a universal symbol of destination, fulfillment, and “nostos” — the sacred need to return home. At the heart of this narrative lies Odysseus, the resourceful king who defied gods and the elements of nature, not for the glory of war, but for the tranquility of a homeland that waited for him steadfastly, like a quiet core amidst the storm.

The Odyssey is not merely a tale of monsters and storms; it is the inner journey toward self-discovery. Passing through the Land of the Lotus-eaters, the cave of the Cyclops, and the allure of Circe, Odysseus was always seeking that very place where time slows down and the gaze can finally lose itself in the horizon of the sea. It is this need for a pause and a genuine connection with the place that inspired the creation of Theta Project in Stavros.

The letter “θ” (theta), which stands out in the island’s name—and in our philosophy—is no random reference. It is a circle that encompasses flow and balance. Just as Odysseus found the strength to carry on by thinking of the warmth of his homeland, the modern traveler seeks a space that exudes care and makes them feel truly “at home.”

Stavros, home to the Theta Project, is one of the most significant locations in northern Ithaca. Many scholars place Odysseus’ palace right here, in an area that commands views over the three seas. Walking along the paths surrounding the property, visitors do not merely take in a beautiful landscape; they sense the presence of a history that does not shout, but quietly and steadily endures.

In the end, Ithaca is not merely a destination.
